Social Media Club Auckland is a free monthly event where around 250 business communicators drink something cold, meet someone cool and learn something useful.

Regular attendees include social media managers and marketing professionals from NZ's largest corporates, advertising and pr agency executives and small / medium business owner/ operators.

It is always a free event, supported by our awesome sponsors and dynamic team of volunteers. We livestream every event and the hashtag #smcakl consistently trends across NZ.

Background

Originally the event was founded in Feb 2010 by Nicholas O'Flaherty, Simon Young and others as the local chapter of Social Media Club.

Events happened monthly in various bars, corporate HQ's, the Saatchi & Saatchi building and Telecom Place. The committee continued to evolve with the participation of Auckland's leading social media practitioners. Sponsorship came from a wide variety of supporters ensuring a consistently high standard of event hospitality.

After a hiatus in early 2013, Justin Flitter and Julian A Waters brought the event back with a series of successful events at Telecom Place covering the social media managers role, retail, recruitment and fashion.

2013 kicked-off with renewed energy and the involvement of NZ's leading social media innovators and the hospitality and support of the Vodafone team, consistiently attracting double the numbers of previous years and solidifying it's place as the largest regular gathering of digital media professionals in New Zealand.

In 2014 #smcakl has continued delivering great events with the support of Vodafone, Oracle and our many other sponsors, speakers, volunteers and active participants.
