The way we consume video entertainment has evolved rapidly. First there was the inherently social phase of Friday nights at the cinema, and crowding around ‘the box’ with your flatmates or at your neighbours' house. Soon, as we filled multiple rooms in our homes with TV sets, it became an experience strictly between viewer and show. Now, in the age of social media, TV viewers can follow their favourite shows, share content and connect with fellow fans at any time before, during and after a program.
So what impact does this have on the industry and how does New Zealand keep up when content from around the globe is now readily available when, where and how we want it?
What are content providers (traditional and otherwise) doing in this new age of social TV and what are the results?
And with our fondness for binge watching and instant gratification – is traditional TV dead?
Bingeworthy or cringeworthy? Who decides?
Join our panel on Wednesday, 20 April to find out this and more!
