Host Kimberley Crossman gets #nzsma tattoo in celebration*
Entries are now open for the 2017 New Zealand Social Media Awards aka #NZSMA.
This year’s event will be NZ’s biggest ever celebration of social media talent: from agency and brand work to content creators across Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat and more.
The event host, actress Kimberley Crossman, is so thrilled to be involved she visited Sam Clayton at Ink Rush Tattoos to get the hashtag #nzsma imprinted on her back*.
Kimberley will star in a series of online videos leading up to the main event. Follow @nzsma on Facebook and twitter to see this first.
Entries and nominations are being accepted at nzsma.nz from now until 23 June.
The awards have been expanded from seven categories in 2016 (then known as the #SMCAKLs) to 22 this year: Six for campaigns, two for community building and management, eleven for creators / influencers and three overall awards.
A highly prestigious awards event will be held in Auckland City on 26 July, featuring performances by some of NZ’s biggest online stars and a range of our finest local food and beverages, including Invivo Wines, Hallertau Beer and Karma Cola.
“Our social media industry has come of age” says #smcakl’s Julian A Waters, organiser of the awards. “This celebration will be the first large-scale showcase of our thriving community of extraordinary online talent”.
“The people in the room will collectively have tens if not hundreds of millions of followers online. In this period of upheaval in the traditional media business this event will celebrate our mastery of the fast-growing communication channels of the future”.
The finalists for this years awards will be selected by an academy of our leading social media talent. International experts will select the category winners and supreme award winner.
